Tracie Hunter to Avoid Jail for Now

The Ohio Supreme Court has granted former judge Tracie Hunter’s request to stay imposition of her sentence

. Basically, she can stay out on bond while her appeal is pending. I was actually surprised that her earlier bail request was denied. There was nothing to indicate she was a threat to the community or to flee, and she is a first time offender. In Florida, where I practice, one would expect bail in such circumstances.
Apparently still no word on whether the other charges will be retried. This may make the special prosecutors more likely to push for more convictions, but that remains to be seen.
