- From the Chicago Tribune: “Oklahoma man charged with ‘atomic wedgie’ murder of stepfather“
An Oklahoma man pulled his step-father’s underwear over his head, suffocating him. Apparently they were friends, but when the alleged victim started saying bad things about his pending divorce, Brad Davis became enraged and a fight broke out: ending by death by wedgie. The cause of death is officially asphyxiation and blunt force trauma. Davis is claiming self-defense, and says the deceased, Denver St. Clair, threw the first blow.
Oklahoma does have a stand your ground law. Though in this case, the question is the traditional self defense questions of whether the Defendant reasonably perceived himself to be in danger of death or great bodily harm, or whatever Oklahoma’s explicit definition is.
According to the Urban Dictionary, a wedgie, whereby the receiver’s pants are yanked up uncomfortably, becomes an “atomic wedgie” when said underpants are actually pulled over the head. Now you know.
