Airboat captain who lost his hands also lost his job

Wallace Weatherholt, the airboat captain arrested in June (Guide arrested for feeding an alligator… his hand) pled no contest in a Collier County courtroom today, according to Wink news.  He received a year of probation, a $500 fine, and has to relinquish his captain’s license for one year.  (I’m sure that also will include several hundred dollars in court fees, and $600 more in supervision fees.)  So, not only did he lose his hand in the incident, he’s also losing his livelihood for a year.  Seems a bit unnecessary to fine him on top of that, but that’s just me.  He probably should have been eligible for a diversion program, but the State is trying to send a message to the other airboat captains.
